Frequently Asked Questions

Satisfaction Guarantee.
ISDB is committed to your satisfaction. If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase we will satisfy you in accordance with the policy below.

1: What is your return policy?
All items may be returned within 30 days if you are unhappy with your purchase less shipping and handling. If anything is damaged during the shipping process ISDB will correct the problem. Engraved gifts may be returned or exchanged within 30 days for a full refund. After 30 days engraved gifts may be exchanged within 90 days from the date of the purchase for an engraved gift of equal value. Gift Certificates are not refundable.

2. How to return an item.
All items must be shipped to ISDB for a return or exchange. ISDB is located at:

ISDB
18645 Detroit Ave. STE. 201
Lakewood, OH 44107

3. What if the information is not correct on my certificate?
If the information is not correct on your certificate please log on to www.stardb.org to access your purchase. Check to see if the information on your certificate matches the information on the website. If it does not match please click on the customer service icon and fill in the form indicating what was wrong.

4. How long does it take to ship my order?
Processing time can take up to two business days for standard star packages. Engraved gifts can take up to seven business days to process.

5. Acceptable Payment Methods.
ISDB accepts all major credit cards through PayPal. We accept check and money orders (checks must clear before product is shipped). Gift Certificates must be redeemed within 1 year, for the amount of the gift certificate at the time of the original purchase.

6. Are these names going to be used for scientific purposes?
The ISDB star catalog is not coordinated with the scientific community. Therefore, you won’t have some astrophysicist calling your star "Jane Doe." They will most likely continue to use the telescopic coordinates, since it is more convenient for astronomers. Naming a star is a symbolic gesture that will be appreciated for years to come even though it may not be recognized by the scientific community.

7. Is my star going to be copyrighted?
ISDB will submit our star catalog annually to the Library of Congress to be copyrighted. You will be able to see your stars name in the ISDB star catalog in the Library of Congress.

8. Can my star ever be "re-named"?
No. Your star will never be renamed. We only name a star once. There are millions of stars and it would be unnecessary to name a star more than once.

9. Can I choose where my star is?
Yes. You can either choose which constellation you would like your star to be in or you can choose the brightest star that we still have available.
